All:

Is it possible to create report excel report directly against SQL Server using MS Query that had embedded in Excel 2000. If possible, is there any example that I can follow in order to entablish the connection. Any help or suggestion would be greatly apperciate.

Thanks.

You need to have the SQL ODBC driver installed - this should be done during the install of Excel (you should be able to re-run the install to add this driver).

Then, when you go to get External Data, at the screen where you choose the database driver, you can create a new DSN where you pop in the SQL details such as server name, user, password, etc. and then use it as you would.

Hi,

You may also need to CONFIGURE your SQL driver is there is no SQL driver already in the Query Selection List.

If so...

Start/Control Panel/Administrateve Tools/Data Sources -- ADD and select your SQL Driver. You may need to know some things like the SERVER or LOGICAL NAME etc. Your DBA can help with this.
