Excel Reference Does not resolve

Hi,

I have used Excel for many years and have come accross a problem that I don't understand.

In one of my worksheets I have tried to input the following refernce that refers to a text cell:

=N7

Instead of resolving to the Value in N7 the value of the cell is "=N7".

Has anyone come across this before? Is there a bug in Excel 2002?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

no bug. My bets are on the cell you entering text into being formatted as text
format as general
enter formula
everything will be ok
