Hi Folks,

I'd appreciate your help in producing a "Burndown" Chart in XL2K3.

Column A has dates when an activity is due (Act_Due). These cover several months.
Column B has dates when the report on the activities is due (Rep_Due). This date is 40 days after the activity date, e.g. =A2+40.

Management wish to see this data as a chart showing months (Jul, Aug, Sept…) on the X-axis, and number of outstanding Actions & Reports on the Y-Axis. This could be either a Column or Line chart, but I think a Line would be clearer.

I am hopeless at dates in Excel – can anyone suggest a method to produce this chart?

Hi,

Your chart data needs ONE series of dates. Your two y-axis series are to display what happens with respect to the date.

For instance, you might be showing a burndown of back orders. So dates in column A. B could be the monthly projected burndown values of back orders and C could be the actual order backlog values for each month.
