I have an excel doc saved on a network share. Users acces it via a hyperlink from a Word doc. When the users open the Excel doc it opens in a browser, not the normal Excel GUI. The browser does not allow the user to save the doc after making changes.

How can I change this so that it opens in Excel, not a browser?

Thanks in advance - Shannan

Did you insert it in the document as a link or embedded object?

If I wasn't Blue, I would just be a Dragon...

The access the word document and then click on a hyperlink that opens the Excel sheet. I did it as a link.

Here is what I found out. If I make a Word doc and share it out and have the user access the Word doc through a unc or other, the hyperlink in the Word doc will open up the Excel file in Excel.

We have an intranet web page that links to the Word doc. When they access the Excel doc that way, Intranet Web Page > Word Doc with hyperlinks > Excel doc, then it opens the Excel doc up in the browser and not in Excel. It still has the grids and cells, etc. but it is in a browser and the File, save, etc. are all gone.
