Excel Problems

When pulling up an Excel file within IE in Livelink everything works great.
But, if you use the backspace button in IE then try to return to that spreadsheet it shows up as a blank spreadsheet with columns and rows but no lines or data.

In Excel its self, a new spreadsheet opens called 'Object X' where X=1, 2, 3, etc.

If macro security is set to medium, you don't even get prompted to enable macro's it just jumps to the blank sheet.
This issue has only occured on PC's with LL Explorer 4.4.2.

My PC does not have LLE 4.4.2 and I never have a problem except the empty "Object" spreadsheets.

I had one guy who started working when I reinstalled LLE 4.4.2 but after he rebooted, the problem returned. He removed 4.4.2 and his works BUT another person removed their 4.4.2 to attempt a fix but it didn't help.

Thoughts? Suggestions?
Am I on crack that I can't figue this out?

Well, that brings up an interesting point.

I am new to Livelink and the person administering it before was not a technical person at all.

The goal I have been given is to fix the current issues that are impacting peoples work then install the lastest version of Livelink on a dev server and test. If that goes well, we will upgrade prod and associated client pieces.

I would certainly recommend that you do three things in the immediate term :

1. Install the latest supported version of LLEXP for your release of LL and add on any patches that are available from the KC ( - ask your OT Account Manager if you need a login).

2. contact OT Support who will be able to tell you if it is a know issue or not.

3. Consider getting all office documents to open in the Native application rather than Livelink, check out for the info on this, and you can also also OpenText for more info on how to configure the FETCHMIMETYPES section in OpenText.ini which handles how the file is passed back to the browser.

After that I would recommend the following :

1. Install a newer version of LL (95SP1/96 are considered stable having been about for a while, 97 is recently released and 10 is coming out this year.) and install the latest version of LLEXP (4.8 at time of writing) and retest.

Thank you very much.
I'll check these out and post the results.
