Have you every had a situation when a user loads Excel it tries to open all the files in the users root part of their home folder, but not anything in sub-folders. Consequently, they receive multiple error messages as each
file loads.

If you have had this problem, how did you resolve it?

I would guess it's something to do with your 'resume.xlw' file.

This is a file that is used when you click the 'save workspace' option on the file menu. It remembers what you have loaded, and reloads thise files.

Why it is trying to load all the root files I can't imagine, but that's where I'd start looking.

I've had this happen in Excel many times. Point Excel to another directory that is not the root and the problem goes away. Sorry, not much of a fix, but it works.

There is an xlstart folder. When excel is opened, it opens any files in that folder.

Simon: have them start excel by Start-Run excel.exe /e and then go to Tools-Options-General tab and have them remove the location out of the "Alternate Startup folder" box.
