Excel not opening properly 1

I have a strange weirdness crept into my system. If I open excel and use the file,open menu, excel excel loads properly but if i double click an excel file in explorer or similar window The toolbar and window title bar of excel load but then excel fails to load file and doesnt go any further. It's office XP running on W2K It is better to ask for for directions rather than wander blindly... Where am I and why did I ever get into I.T.

Uncheck Ignore other applications. Anne Troy

Thanks Dreamboat. I appreciate the help. it was unchecked but i opened the package checked it closed it down. Then re-opened it up unchecked it closed it down.Worked perfect. Guess something somewhere needed a bit of a kick up the ass. Thanks again It is better to ask for for directions rather than wander blindly... Where am I and why did I ever get into I.T.
