Excel into Indesign CS?

I tried to bring some excel spreadsheets into Indesign. So far I have not had good results. If I use formatted table Everything looks fint but Idont have the control over the line spacing and table cell width. Tabbed text looks like and unformatted mess.

Am I missing something here? Appreciate all ideas. I have several of these pricelist worksheets that I need to get into a document.

This does not make sense. Are you using the Table palette to modify the table. Are you using the text tool to grab cell borders to re-size?
