I a normally a Macola guy, but I have a customer that needs to import GL transactions from excel, or a .csv or something similar into Mas200. Is this doable out of the box with Mas 200?

Any insight appreciated.

Visual Intigrator module will be helpful with this.

With GL you can use the GL Data Exchange feature but honestly I would only use on it a 4.xx version. In the older versions using GL data exchange the data would go right into the history files and heaven help you if you have an error in the file. With 4.xx it goes into data entry giving you a chance to print the journal and catch mistakes before posting.

This feature is free. you have to pay for VI

Actually you DO NOT need VI to do this job. This is from the How Do I files in 4.xx

To import general ledger information

Select General Ledger Utilities menu > General Ledger Exchange.

If no exchange settings are defined, the General Ledger Exchange Settings Wizard automatically appears.

In the General Ledger Exchange window, select an exchange setting to run or modify. For more information, see General Ledger Exchange - Fields.

To modify an exchange setting, select the setting and click the Modify Exchange Setting button.

To create a new exchange setting, click New Exchange Setting. The General Ledger Exchange Settings Wizard appears.

To transfer data from one company to another, first open the source company and create an exchange setting to export company data into a source file. Then import data from the source file to the destination company by opening the destination company and selecting or creating an exchange setting to import data from the source file.

Note Verify supported file types when setting up the export exchange setting. For more information about supported file types for importing and exporting data, see General Ledger Exchange FAQs.

Click Proceed. You are prompted to print a Test Import Listing.

Click Yes to print the Test Import Listing. After the data is imported, you are prompted to print an Import Log to view imported records, as well as records excluded from the import.

Click Proceed to print the Import Log. You have the option of printing all, only those that were imported, or only those that are skipped.

The account, budget, or transaction files are updated in the General Ledger module.

I am trying to import data into our MAS90 GL. I have attempted this with both Data Exchange and VI. I have no problems when I supply the entry numbers for the transactions. However, I want MAS90 to supply its NextJournalNo as the entry number, and this always causes the import to fail. Has anyone had a similar experience? Is it possible to have MAS90 supply the entry number?

Thanks,
Pat

Data Exchange is a simple import tool. It has few options. Creating the next entry number is not one of them.
