Excel icon not showing up

I have a computer that does not display the Excel icon for Excel files. It just shows the unknown file icon but it still opens up. Were would I go to change the icon back to an Excel icon. I know I could reload Office but is there a quick fix to get it to appear?

Did you change the name of the desktop icon? Did you try replacing the icon?

You can mouse-right click -> Properties -> change icon.

Or

Go to Windows Explorer(explorer.exe) and go to Tools -> Folder options -> File Types -> Find "xls" -> Advanced -> Change the icon as Excel.
