Hello...

I've ceated a horizontal bar graph with five values ... I need to add a line through each bar which will be values from another column... I know this is probably really easy but I cant seem to figure it out. please help me!

GD

Than you both for responding - but no that is not what I want.... Lets say I have two data sets

A B

4.5 3.2
5.6 4.4
3.2 2.9
2.5 1.5

I need series A made into a normal horizontal bar graph
and series B need to be dots that appear on each of the corresponding bar.

eg. the first bar will be 4.5 and at point 3.2 there will be a dot that appears on the 4.5 bar.

I hope this makes sense.

Please help.

Thanks in advance
GD

Can't make it work with a horizontal bar chart, but it can work with a column chart.

Select the series that you want as DOTS.

menu item Chart/Chart Type - and select a LINE chart

Format the line series and set the line patterna to NONE.

You need to create a bar and xy-scatter combination.

4.5 3.2 0.5
5.6 4.4 1.5
3.2 2.9 2.5
2.5 1.5 3.5

Create the bar chart as normal using the first 2 columns of data.
Select the 2nd set of bars and change the chart type to xy scatter, markers only.
Now use the Source Data dialog to change the X and Y values.
X values use the 2nd column of values and Y values use the 3rd column of values.
Simply delete the secondary x and y axes.

You should now have dots at the required value in the vertical center of each bar.

Cheers
Andy
