Just started to use time formats in Excel 97. Need to enter a formula that says if a cell is greater than 7.5 hours (7:30) then pick up the contents of that cell, otherwise put in 7:30 (in time format)
Have no problems with the normal formula =if(c7>7.5,c7,"") but this won't work with the formatting in time. It's for a flexi time sheet showing the maximum carry forward time allowed each month.
Any help gratefully recieved

Thanks in advance

Babs: You need to be careful with time calculations in Excel.

Please see some of the best information available on time sheets at (scroll down to the T's).

Bottom line, you really need to be careful how you are formatting your cells and entering your time.

I would suggest that keeping everything in decimal time and forget about "converting". For example, 7:30 is not always 7.5 hours, it's just 7.5 hours FROM 12:00.

If you keep everything in decimal time, 6.25, 8.5, 9.0, then the math will be easy and you won't get tripped up by mixing formats.
