Hi,
does anyone know a formula for changing currency once entered?
Im not too up on Excel, but what the client wants to do is....
When a number is entered into the field, eg, 100, (100 Irish pounds) it is automaticly changed to a different currency with the exchange rate. I know the rate is always changing, but this is for our € Euro Currency conversion, ie, by Jan 1st we are all changing currency to Euro. So the rate will always be....

1 Irish Pound = 1.26974 Eur (1.27 rounded)
(or)
1 Eur = .787564 Irish pence ( .79 rounded)

So if the user enters 1 (as in 1 Irish £) it is automaticly changed to 1.26974 Or if the user enters £5 the result is €6.3487
The € is not necessary, but would be nice!!
Basically the user doesn't want to keep on calculating the amount every time she is working on a sheet......
The formula would be just for upcoming sheets, and will not be entered into previous sheets and stuff....
The formula does not have to work in reverse, ie, € to £
Anyone know?!?!?!

Thanks a million... Jay~

Without code, it won't happen.

Why not just have the currency column and the converted column? You can always hide/unhide the column where the data is entered when you're done entering it. You can easily create a toolbar that pops up with text buttons that run macros (easy-to-record macros) that will reveal the column (call this one Make Entries), and another that hides it (call it Done Making Entries). techsupportgirl@home.com

Thanks TSG,
What I have done though is a kind of long winded work around for the moment. I have cell A30 hidden, with a value of 1.26974 and two columns, Irish and Euro. They are, Euro cells, B2, B3, B4, B5 etc, and just beside it is the Irish cells, C2, C3, C4, C5 etc, the Irish ones are all hidden. There is then a formula in the Euro cells, =C2*A30 and for each cell with its corresponding cell number. So when the user enters the amount in the Irish, it then appears in the Euro column with as calculated amount.
This is a bit OTT for what the user wants, and can be awkward entering in the formula for each cell, I dont really know much about making macros and stuff, something simple for the user is all that is required! Jay~
