It doesn't. Impromptu catalog definitions are static, and must be modified by hand to incorporate changes or additions to the underlying metadata.

I can only make a suggestion here, that you could investigate but, I stand to be corrected. Dave, maybe you can add someting to this.
What you can do is to connect to the spread sheet in Transformer and refresh / modify your columns via Script Editor. I saw something to this extend in the past but I can not help you with the code.
