Excel - File won't open (VB Error) 1

Trying to open a Multisheet Network file a user is getting the following message:

"An error occurred while loading 'Sheet1211111111111111111111'. Do you want to continue loading the project? Yes No Help"

Choosing Yes forces Excel to close. Choosing No closes Excel while choosing Help doesn't ...

I think I know where the problem lies (although I don't know what caused it ...virus???) but I don't know how to get at it without being able to open the file in the first place.

Ideas anyone?

Ken...as usual, you are correct. Thanks for your help.

I resolved the immediate issue by retrieving a back up copy, checking the sheet name in VB properties and renaming the sheets.

There are hundreds (if not thousands!) of workbooks created in Excel 97 now running in Excel 2000 in use here. I think I could expect to see this again and again.
