Excel file lost - impossible to save

I'm using an excel worksheet with automatic graph based on advanced filter.
I protect my project with password but when I want to save the workbook, there is message informing me that I can not save this file when project is protected!!?
Excel crash....and when I wanrt to reopen the file:.....impossible ( message:invalid shorcut);the file completely disappeared from my computer!
I tried several time with everytime the same result.
Somebody can explain me the probleme?
