This is a little trickier than the title may lead you to beleive.

I need to insert a file into an excel document. It needs to be part of the excel file, it can not be linked to an outside file. Excel allows you to insert an object as an icon which is close to what I want to do.

The only problem is that I can not use an icon. I need to be able to link a cell to the inserted file. Sort of like a hyperlink, but the file will be contained in the spreadsheet like an inserted object.

I tried my best to explain what I'm trying to do. Thanks for your help.

On tab 3 (sheet3)(for example)using INSERT-OBJECT and select the file to insert. Do not insert it as an icon, but insert the entire document.

On tab 1 (sheet1) insert a hyperlink to the object in sheet3 (tab 3).

This may do what you want to achieve.

If I'm reading it right, you want to insert part of one file into another and have it linked so it would update if needed?

If that's the case, there is a button called "Camera" that allows you to highlight part of a spreadsheet and insert it as a moveable object in another spreadsheet, while still maintaining the links. You can find this button on your "Tools" toolbar. Hope this helps
