Hi,
We have a user trying to open an excel workbook stored on our NT server. The file was opening no problems, but now we get the following error message.

"roster.XLS cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server the document is stored on may not be responding."

The file is not read only. We have tried copying it to the local machine.

Any ideas or do we just slash & burn it.

Thanks for any help on this.

Cheers,

Peter.

This has been a known issue for some time now:

There used to be an article, too, about NT4 networks with certain Norton anti-virus software, but I didn't see it this time around. Brainbench MVP for Microsoft Word
