When I attempt to open a particular file I get the following error message: "File cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read only location, or the server the document is stored on may not be responding."
I had been working with this file for several days before this happened and am a loss to understand it.
Some of the data in this file was copied from my company's item files. I followed the directions for doing this, and as I indicated, had opened, modified and saved my work many many times with no problem.
Can anyone give me some direction on recovering all this work. I opened the file in Word--its all there-- I just can't work with it.

Have you tried checking the file's "Properties" ?

In Explorer, right-click on the file, and choose "Properties", and check for "Read-Only".

If it happens to be checked off as Read-Only, then simply de-select the Read-Only.

Hope this helps. :)

If the above solution doesn't work is the file accessible to others? There may be someone else with it open, locking you out. Once you're in the file, save it under another name & if there might be other people using it who shouldn't be then add a password.

I have confirmed that the file is not a read-only and I am not in a network where others could be in the file.
I have found some other information regarding the problem and it relates to a product called Inoculan.
Now, I don't believe that I'm running this on my system, however, the system that I used to obtain some of the data I copied for my file does make some reference to Inoculan.
I tried to run the the file on this system but I still get the same message.
