Why does the enable/disable macro message appear when the file being opened does not have any macros?

You may not have a macro in the file you are using however there could be an add-in attached that does.

Sometimes when you install a program that you think has nothing to do with excel, it loads an add-in. An example of that is VISIO and ACROBATE (the creater not the reader).

You might want to check by right clicing on a tab and selecting 'View Code' to see if there are add-ins attached.

Another thing to check is 'This Workbook'. Some virus programs put themselves on this page and auto-run. [sig][/sig]

Another possibility is that a macro has been created and stored in the Personal.xls. This file opens behind the scenes whenever Excel is started.

See my FAQ for instructions on how to open and view the macro code in Personal.xls.

Hope this helps. [sig]<p>Larry De Laruelle<br><a href=mailto:larry1de@yahoo.com>larry1de@yahoo.com</a><br><a href= > </a><br> [/sig]
