Excel Drop Down

I have Excel 2002 (XP), and I have found that a drop down box may be placed on a worksheet, but I do not know how to load the drop down. I would ultimately like to define lists, each one a column by themself. Then I would like to load the column into an array, and then load the array into the list box. Any suggestions or pointers are welcome.
