Ok, I just wanted to know is there a way to have drop down list in a cell, so that a user clicks in the cell and options drop down that they can choose from for that cell. I am trying to create a sheet where certain cells have to be chosen from a approved list of options. Thanks for all your help.

I too wanted to perform a similar function when making a list of our companies IT enquiries any help would be much appreciated!

Check out Data > Validation.

See Excel's help file to get you started, post back with any specific questions.

Good luck!

The on-line help fails to mention a couple of tricks regarding the data validation dropdowns. I like to keep the source data on a different worksheet, for instance.

To install a Data Validation dropdown, select the cell to receive the dropdown, then open the Data...Validation menu item.

On the Settings tab, choose Allow...List. On the Source field, enter your values separated by commas--dog, cat, mouse, aardvark. You could enter a cell reference instead, e.g.
=A1:A6 This cell reference must be on the same worksheet
Alternatively, you may enter a named range reference for the Source:
=myRange This reference may be on a different worksheet

The entire process is nicely illustrated at
