I have Excel 2000. (9.0.04402sr-1). I would like to have every NEW worksheet automatically open with margins open as wide as possible and with the Footer to note the file name and sheet name and date.

I know how to do these when working on a sheet, but I would love to be able to set these up as defaults so every sheet I work on will have that information.

I use a "personal" sheet when Excel opens. I tried to make the changes in my personal sheet and save it but when I start a new worksheet I still get the standard with .75" margins and 1.00" inch top and bottom margins and no footer/headers.

Thanks in advance!

Create default formatted template (save formatted file as template) in proper XLStart directory and, search for "template" in help file for details (file names).

Thank you - Thank you - Thank you! The hardest part was finding the correct XLSTART directory.

I followed the help in the help file for the correct location of the XLSTART file and the part I missed on my previous attempts was to save the file as "book.xlt". Without that name, it does not work.

Thanks again!

Ron
