I am looking to convert a workers total hours (hours:minutes) into a real number (hours in decimal form).

Example: Cell contains 170:15 (equal to 170 hours and 15 minutes). I need to convert that to decimal form, 170.25.

Any ideas on a formula and/or vba code to help accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your time!
Ryan

Hi,

faq68-5827

So you convert days to hours.

Skip,

for a NUANCE![tongue]

Thanks Skip! However, I figured it out on my own (for once!!)! :)

A1 = 170:15 (formatted as text)
B1 formula =(A1*24) (formatted as number - decimal 2 places)

Result - B1 is 170.25

Thanks!

A1 = 170:15 (formatted as text)
WHY fomatted as TEXT? Did you ever try to multiply ANYTHING by TEXT?

Thereby, you are forcing Excel to CONVERT the TEXT representation of your Time Value to a number (which you already have, somewhere), in order to calculate the product.

Correct you are Skip. Although it did work as text, I see the err of my ways.

Thanks!
