Hi, I have an Excel form in which I would like to have fields completed with checkmarks. There are quite a few so I am trying to avoid checkboxes. I have searched the web and found that some use the 'a' in Marlett font to create a checkmark. Is there a way to force this character using a macro? How would they uncheck?

Janet,

When you say "form", are you a UserForm or a sheet that you are using as a form?

Please explain the purpose of this form?

Sorry,

I guess I should not use the word form. It is a spreadsheet for users to request ftp account access. I have a series of columns to indicate the folders the user should be permitted to access. The spreadsheet is not a true form. They will just submit the spreadsheet via email. I am trying to avoid macros or anything that might cause problem for those who have Excel set to high security. The audience is not tech savvy and do not have internal IT staff

What about a simple X in a cell?

Check out Data > Validation... where you can control the values that a range of cells can have.

If you FORMAT the column with the Marlett font, and only allow a and SPACE. only trouble is, SPACE displays a box. A ZERO[/b[ is an underline -- might work for you.
