Is it possible in workbooks open, to determine if a reference is missing to avoid the compile error message. Is it also possible to select another ref instead, ie if word 10 missing and work 9 available use that????

Cheers

I use late binding in stead. No references and no problems;-) Declaring with

[tt]dim oWord as object[/tt]

instantiate through getobject/createobject. There's an interresting thread here thread707-932799, though, perhaps you can use something there?
