Hi experts,

I have a pivot table with chart (Excel 2003).

The chart presents a bar-graph of database sizes as of a certain month. So 2 data columns: size and date - these are pulled from a SQL Server view which has a key on the date column desc

The chart is fine except for the graph bars are out of sequence: they are arranged by size not by date. When I view the charts Options, I don't see what could cause it to be sequencing on size.

I'm sure this will be easy for you experts.

Thanks for any help. John

Hi,

Some clarifications please.

A BAR chart is plotted...

Why is DATE a series (Y-values)? Under most circumstances, your date values would be X-values.

How are your 'DATES' entered in your source data?

Please answer each of this questions, please.

Certainly, Skip.

It is a Bar chart.

I'm sure I've done something wrong here.
Thanks, John

Select the series. Format > Selectede Data Series. Series Order TAB.

Thanks very much, Skip.

With your tips, I was able to get the chart to sequence the columns correctly.

.... 3 months later....

Can someone unclog my memory? The tip from SkipVought (below) worked then but now I have the same problem on another pivot table/worksheet and I can't remember what to click to get to the 'Series Order' Tab.

Excel 2003.
Thanks, John

"Select the series. Format > Selectede Data Series. Series Order TAB."

You have it there in your last post in QUOTES.

Does it matter that I miss spelled Selected?

Dyslexia!

Thanks (again) SkipVought.

I got it. Took some experimental clicking, then I could see the 'Series Order' tab.
