I have a column chart with five series plotted, and the columns formatted so that they touch each other, no overlap, no gap.
When I copy this chart to another worksheet, it appears the same, but when I change one value slightly, the five columns appear to shrink and slide leftward, i.e.take up half the space, almost as though they were now the first 5 of 10 series, the latter of with having zero values. But this is not true.
I suppose then, my question is, how to research or trouble shoot what appears to me as Excel anomaly behavior?

Hi,

How did you "copy this chart to another worksheet?"

Yes--I have selected the chart by clicking at the outside edge of it, then edit copy, then edit paste in a separate worksheet, then I resize it as appropriate to fit into a discreet number of cells. And then I change the source data point in one or two cases. This works for me dozens of times in a row, and then in one case the formatting/sizing of the chart has changed dramatically, and I am not able, so far, to recreate the appearance of the chart that I need.

One thing that I do ALL the time is that when I create a chart, I UNCHECK Auto Scale in the Format Chart Area - Font Tab. That seems to avoid some potential problems.

You might try that and see if it affects your situation.
