I have a scanned textbook Engineering Graph in .jpg format on an EXCEL workbook, and I want to overlay an EXCEL chart to compare my calculated values to the textbook graph.

I can put the EXCEL chart over the .jpg, but need to make the EXCEL chart "Transparent", so I can see the textbook graph under my calculated chart.

How can this be done?

This is a 2 stage process

right click on chart outside of plot area
choose: Format Chart Area
goto: "Patterns" tab and choose "None" under Area
press: OK

right click on chart inside plot area
choose: Format Plot Area
goto: "Patterns" tab and choose "None" under Area
press: OK

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

btw - if you need the VBA for this, simply record yourself performing the actions
