Hello everyone.

A user in our company has a problem in Excel 2003.

When she types in a cell the number i.e. 5 then excel displays it as 0,005

I checked the Format > Cell option category and I noticed that it is in General. The strange thing is that the General category sample is 0,005 so something must be wrong it main Excel settings because whenever I create a new workbook the same problems occurs.

Now If I change the category cell type to TEXT and then type 5 in the cell then a green symbol appears in cell and reports an formula error. If I click on it then I get the option to convert text to number and then if I do that it displays the 5 correctly.

Any ideas how can I apply the default Excel functionality?

Thank you in advance

Stergios.

Check that in tools-options-edit you don't have fixed decimal place ticked. I assume "," is your decimal separator?
