This apparently is the first time I've run into the issue, but apparently, Excel cannot import queries from Access that include the Nz function.

So my question is: What are the suggestions to basically replace the functionality of the Nz function in order to make the data accessible from Excel?

The way I found the issue was creating a local query on local tables in Access, and for a couple of fields, I used the Nz function. When I tried using Data -> Get External Data -> From Access, it wouldn't show the query at all. Then I tried using MS Query, and it showed the queries, but said "Nz function undefined" and would not import.

What I'm doing for now is importing the data without the Nz function, and using Excel to cleanup instead with formulas. I would think the Access query more efficient, but thankfully it's not a huge dataset I'm dealing with.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions.

For reference, currently using MS Office 2013, but I imagine this one will be the same on all versions.

Hi Steve,

Use ISNULL()

IIF(IsNull([FieldName]), 0, [FieldName])
