Excel Calculation Problem

I am writing a report that shows This Month Qty (A1), Same Month Last Year Qty (A2), and want to use it each month with the Year-To-Date (YTD) quantities changing for each month (running total) of YTD Qty (A4) and Last YTD Qty (A5). Unfortunately, I keep getting a circular reference. Is there a different formula I can use instead of:

=sum (A1+A4)in cell A4
=sum (A2+A5) in cell A5

Put your formula in another cell other than the one included in your addition. You can't have the sum of A & B in B...it needs to be put in another location.
