Excel being exceptionally slow opening files

Hi,

My MD is having the issue where Excel takes an age to open files, so I have applied the dde solution shown in thread68-1519993 however now something just as annoying is happening.

The file now opens smartly, but about 10 seconds after opening the area that would normally show the data goes white and Excel hangs in the same way it did before - only coming back to life after about 60 seconds or so.....

Does anyone have any ideas on this as it's driving him, and by proxy ME, nuts!
