excel axis scale 1

Hi.
I have a long series of number that go from january 1998 to december 2007. I would like the x-axis scale to show only jan-98, jan-99, jan-00.....

How would I do that? Thanks for any hint.

Right-click the axis and format numbers as you like (here mmm-yy).

I would like to see only january months on the x-axis.

It depends on chart type. For x-y chart you can only set major unit (no. of days, 365) and start number (date serial number).
For other chart types set major unit to year.
