I'm new to VBA and wanted to know if someone can help me create an organizational chart like the person in this youtube video ( I don't need to create my org. chart to the extent of what the person created with all the extra color options (e.g. border color, line color, and text color). I just want a basic layout where I can just create the chart with the "Generate Chart" option and, also, have the options to chose the type of hierarchy chart, adjust text size, and add department name and title.

Thank you for your help/advice!

There is no way this would be a beginner project. Have you looked into finding a software solution that is meant for creating org charts? Visio would be a better choice than Excel.

For VBA questions you should go to forum707, but in any case people here at TT would normally like to know what you have so far and where are you stuck.

Have fun.

Andrzejek,

Sorry, I will add it to the correct forum now.

I pretty much have nothing. I've never used VBA before this. I dabbled with it for an hour before I rage quit for the day. I was able to create the Clear Data button and... that is it.

I was given the task to create Org. Charts for my company (because nobody else wanted to do it, and the person who created it last year refused to do it this year), so I started by looking through google/youtube for best methods or applications. That is when I stumbled across the youtube clip and thought that that would be amazing to have. This would save me a lot of time (and headaches) because I can just extrapolate all the required information from our HRIS systems, filter through departments and make Org. Charts for each department in seconds.

Unfortunately, I've never had any experience with VBA, but I have been reading up on it when I have free time. I just don't know where I should start.

Dhookom,

I'm starting to realize that. I found a few apps online that looked interesting, but this seemed a lot easier (and cheaper).
Thanks for the heads-up. I will look more into Visio.

I believe the YouTube video was created by a guy to showcase his Excel skills. They are amazing (IMO) but it's like using a hammer to drive screws. It would be a cool trick but why not use a tool designed to drive screws.
