Is there a way to put a static number (say 250) in one cell somewhere on the worksheet and have a function or some equation add that number automatically to a number you enter into another cell? Say, type 2340.4 into a cell and, upon entering or exiting the cell, the program adds 250 to it automatically.

Uh...if there IS a way, would someone disclose please? Thanks a bunch. 'preciate it.

Bit of a strange request. Hard to do. The problem you face is finding an event to use so it won't keep adding the value to the cell when you move around the sheet.

Why are you trying to do this? Surely there is a way round this??

like have a cell which is =B2+A1
where A1 is the 250
and B2 is the number.

??? If you try to add the cell again plus another cell you should receive a message about circular reference, e.g.

Cell B2
=B2+A1.

Try the excel help files for "iteration".It's in tools/options/calculation.
You can then add the cell itself plus another cell(s).
When I have used this it does become messy, having to use in manual calculation.
You also have to somehow remove the stored number otherwise it will re calcualte each time you press enter in any other cell even if limiting the change.
Alternatively

250 in A1.
C1
= B1+A1
filling B1 iwth your non-static number and C1 giving the result.

This is the same question as posted on 5/16. I played around with finding an event that won't keep adding the value again and again to any cell, but was unable to find such an event.

I think DarkSun is right. This request is very easy to do by writing a simple formula instead of being triggered by a keyboard event.
