This has been an annoyance for years but have not found out a solution. If I copy a cell and then paste it into another app, then want to insert some rows, my only option is "Insert Copied Cells" but I do not want to do that. Since I didn't paste it into excel, it won't let me insert rows until I've pasted that data into excel first. So, I have to paste it somewhere else, then delete what I pasted, before I can proceed, which is a huge pain.

How do I either undo a Copy command or tell excel I don't want to insert the copy into new rows just to insert rows?

I usually tap the Esc key after I've finished doing any copying. Does that help?
