Excel and SQL DB in the same CR

I have an excel file were the first column is the matching key i.e. CO1234, TP0004, TR6543 etc. The excel is being read via an ODBC driver into CR. When I try to match with the appropriate field the SQL DB I a "different size" warning and the fields from excel are blank on the report.

CR indicates the size of the excel field is 255, the SQL field is 10.

Any suggestions please

Excel makes for a horrible data source.

I'd import it into a SQL Server table, it's very easily done, and can be automated.

Or you might try shrinking the column width within the Excel file.
