All,
I'm having a devil of a time with the checkbox object and Excel (both 2007 and 2010 versions). It is in shared mode, and for some reason, multiple of checkboxes are getting over written, to the point that the file (which is already 2mb) grows to over 30mb. Then I have to delete tons of them one at a time to get it back down to the right size again. Anyone have any advise on how to best manage checkbox object? (Or a way that I can set a cell that a click in it will just place an X for on/off instead of using the COM object?)
Thanks

Best Regards,
Scott

Hi,

Are you aware that there are Excel features that are NOT available in shared workbooks? You need to THOROUGHLY understand, reading the HELP on this topic.

The size of your workbook WILL drastically increase as well.

Yes, aware of both of those issues. There is nothing in this shared workbook that doesn't work. It bloats for sure, but much of that is because the checkbox object keeps getting saved over and over in the same cell. I have deleted up to 9 of them in some cases. (In various combinations of both checked and unchecked.)

What I'm really looking for here is a way to NOT use the checkbox object, and instead have a quick way for data entry using a mouse click on the cell, and happy to put a plan text character in it, but my users WANT click to fill the box... (I gave them alternate drop down with Wingding, but they didn't like having to click twice once to see the drop down, and once to select the item). They also don't want to use keyboard... so I'm looking for a solution other than checkbox object, OR a way to control it properly so that it doesn't cause bloat and multiple instances.

Best Regards,
Scott

You could use the worksheet selection change event. Please post in forum707 for a VBA solution.
