I'm taking a shot in the dark on this and hoping that someone out there has had this problem before. We use an active-X control in the lab and I wanted to put it on my computer at home so that I can continue working on things. My home computer runs Windows 7 and I recently upgraded to Office 2010. I copied the OCX file into the system32 folder and manually registered it. However, the file would not register and Windows gave me an incompatibility error (turns out the active-x controls from 1998!). So I unregistered the file (just in case, even though it had not registered correctly) and deleted it. But since doing this, Microsoft Excel will not execute any macros. It constantly complains about not being able to find reference libraries. It won't even acknowledge the standard OLE, VBA, and Excel object libraries. Access will run macros, but it will not allow other reference libraries to be added. Does anyone have any clues before I give up and call microsoft tech support?
