Excel Add-in problem .. please help

Hello,

We have a Excel 97 worksheet, which uses a add-in. When we try to open the worksheet it's says File Not Fount, and we have to locate the add-in. After this the sheet is working, so we save it. When re-opening this sheet the same message appears, File Not Found. It looks like excel doesn't save the location of the XLA file. When i open the sheet with a text editor and search the xla file, it is pointing to the wrong directory.

How can we adjust the sheet, so the reference to the XLA is saved successfully??

I'm confused by how you are using addins. The common mode of dealing with addins is to have them loaded when Excel is started up, not when summoned by a different workbook. To get Excel to find them properly, install them using the Tools-Addins command, using the Browse button if necessary to locate the folder. To get Excel to save them in the standard AddIns folder, load your AddIn, then do a file - saveas, select "Excel AddIn" from the file type dropdown. Excel will automatically adjust the folder to its default location for user addins.

Yes that's true,

But the problem I have, it that the reference is located in the file and I'm not able to remove the 'hard-coded' reference. When I load the add-ins when I start excel it works fine, till I open the sheet, Dr. Watson will visit my pc. If I do a find '..' in the sheet, it cant find the directory or what so ever, but when I open the file in notepad (only for viewing) and do a find, I find the directory 'hard coded' in the file.

I don't know if it's 'elegant' (and right?) solution.
I write code in the same directory as i'll install addins.

The add-in I'm using is a third-party add-in.
