Excel 97 start up problem

I've encountered a minor problem recently when starting Excel 97. After opening Excel but before the "blank" worksheet appears I recieve an error message. I believe it's just sort of an informational error (a window pops up with an exclamation point in a yellow triangle?) The window title bar contains "Microsoft Visual Basic" and the entire error message consists of "file not found" along with two buttons - "ok" and "help".

Of course my first step was to try the help. It really didn't lead me anywhere. It just states that a call was made to a file that doesn't exist. I had figured that much out...but I have NO idea what file is being called.

I have no autorun macros set up.

It isn't a huge problem because all I have to do is press "ok" and loading continues just fine. It's really just an irritation that I would like to fix.

Has anyone ever ran into this before? Any suggestions on how to trace the problem?

Any insight would be graeatly appreciated.

Thanks very much.

If you cant figure out what it is quickly, i would recommend re-installing excel rather than wasting loads of time.

You might want to try to search and delete the Personal.xls file.
