Excel '97 reading a Date field

If it is TEXT in a cell, say A1, then in another cell, say B1, put ..
[blue][tt] =DATEVALUE(A1)[/tt][/blue]
.. and format it however you want - [blue]mmm. d, yyyy[/blue] for the example you give.
