In excel 97 when i have a document with a file name with spaces eg the file i want.xls - i get errors saying excel cannot open each seperate part of the name eg the.xls file.xls.
I think theres a fix for this but i cant find it...any help?

You need to reregister Excel. The easiest way that I have found to do this is to copy the shortcut you use to open Excel and then open the properties dialog. From here you open the Shortcut tab. Look in the Target text box. You should see something like this

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\excel.exe"

Using switches add the following to the end after the "

/unregserver

Then run the shortcut. Excel will probably flash and then close.

Reopen the shortcut properties but this time add this as a switch to replace the /unregserver

/regserver

Again run this shortcut and Excel will flash open and close.

This should then solve your problem.

Let me know how it goes. Matt Smith
