Excel 95 file not able to open the same in Excel 97

Have a file 6.0 MB prepared in excel 95 which shows the foll errors if opened in excel 97

Excel 97 & Win 95 - Illegal operation - application will shut down

Excel 97 & Nt4 wks along with Dr watson -
application error : excel.exe
exception : access violation (0x c0000005),Adress : 0x0fef1ac3

However a lot of other files prepared in excel 95 open under 97. Hence does not seem an installation error.

You've got a couple options here. You can save the files as a different type of file other than the excel 5.0/95. Maybe try saving as excel 2.1, 3.0, or 4.0 worksheet or 4.0 workbook. You can also try saving as a tab delimted text file. If that does not work, you may want to copy the data and past it into a new file and try moving that file. One other thing, it is possible that when you moved the file, the data got corrupted, especially if you used a floppy to exchange the file, you can try to move the file again.
