Hello. Please see attached document (a picture is worth a thousand words).

I've inherited a dashboard that contains a multitude of charts with data labels. The charts are primarily, not exclusively, stacked or single bar. The labels have been added manually and I'm looking for a much more automated solution (non-VBA) in an effort to save time when making updates!

Secondary question. Is there a way to have a custom data label that, in this case, would be the sum of Sources 1-3 instead of using a Total line? Just curious.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,

I could not get your charts to stick in my Excel 3013. Got an error of some kind that striped the charts out.

But I just played with the Table in your sheet.

1) Added a Chart Element - Data Labels.
This puts a label on each segment in each stack.

2) Delete all but one set of Data Lables,

3) SELECT the Data Label Set

4) Format Selection

5) Select value from Cells, and Select the TOTALS range.

6) DeSelect Value in Label Options.

7) Move each label as desired. They will adjust with the chart data.

Vola y'all!

BTW, manual is what you got without VBA, going through each chart one by one. Really don't know why you wouldn't make a macro to effect these changes. Then delete or move them out of the workbook.

But one thing you could do is convert each table to a Structured Table with a Totals row.
