Excel 2010 Status bar whilst workbook calculates

I've got a fairly involved workbook (help so far by Skip and the search function in Tek-Tips!) and so far it seems to fit the bill.

However, when I change some things in my drop-downs to re-draw my dynamic charts (get me!) sometimes this can take up to 4-5 seconds. (There is a shed load of data in here though and it is only an interim solution).

What I really want to do is show a progress bar in the sheet which will update as the workbook recalculates. Now its not calculating based on a MAcro (hence not posting in the VBA forum) and I can't work out how to make a conditionally formatted bar work.

Any and all ideas gratefully received.

hi,

I have Excel 2007, and in this version at least, there is in indication in the Status Bar of PERCENT COMPLETE, for instance

Calculating (2 Processor(s)): 25%

You do not have this displayed in your SB when your workbook is calculating?

Its very tiny in teh bottom right-hand corner.

The problem I think I'll have is that the users (who know nuffink about excel) will just think it doesn't work, so I'd love to put something a bit more obvious.

not possible without some fancy vba code.

I'll head that way then!

Thanks Skip.

educate your users. IMHO if your job indicates that you need to use Excel, you ought to know how to use the elementary features of the application.
