The company recently upgraded to Office 2007. (Windows XP)

From that time, my Personal.XLSB does not open when loading Excel.

My Personal.XLSB is in the XLSTART folder in both these paths
[tt]
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\XLSTART
C:\Documents and Settings\ii36250\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
[/tt]
where my networkID is in the second path.

I have run Dignostics/Repair.

I have to manually load the personal.XLSB workbook in order to use it.

Any thots?

But Skip, you're supposed to know all of the answers. If you're asking questions here, someplace very warm must be freezing or some swine have grown wings

Yes, there are chinks in my armor with less luster.

Unhide won't work, because it is not open; hidden or not.

Oddly enough, if I modify the personal workbook name like personalZ.xlsb, it will open when I load Excel.

Hi Skip -- I'm in agreement with Zelgar...here is a thought though...is anyone else in the company having the same issue?...are you the only one who uses a PERSONAL.xlsb?

We have several dozen users that use personal.xlsb workbooks, but i have only know of one other person that has had such an issue.

so did the IT dept push this remotely on to your computer or did they come around with CD's?...I'm just wondering if a re-install might be the ticket....I'm remembering old Microsoft humor, like "MicroSoft has detected mouse movement, Please re-boot"...HTH

It was a push.

I have seen issues that during a push, network issues caused a corrupt install...I'm not sure the diagnostic/repair would catch it....just a thought...and doing a re-install doesn't take much time....but it might be better to do it local instead of a push...

Thanx judgeh59. I'll try that.

Hi Skip - the PERSONAL is created automatically when one selects to record a macro here. Starting with no personal workbook, does excel create it somewhere in your case?

combo

@combo,

Yes, I do this often for many users who use one of my modules containing database access functions.

I can, for instance.
[tt]
remove my personal.xlsb workbook from the XLSTART folder
add a new personal macro workbook by recording a macro
save the personal workbook in the VB Editor ( the workbook appears in the XLSTART folder)
close Excel
open Excel
the personal.xlsb workbook does NOT OPEN

at this point I can CHANGE the name of the personal.xlsb workbook in the XLSTART folder to, for instance, personalZ.xlsb
open Excel
Excel opens with ONLY the personalZ.xlsb workbook hidden. Interestingly, I must now Create a New Document to create Book1 & actually perform any spreadsheet activities.
[/tt]
This is what I have done and what I observe.

@combo,

That was it!

However, (Excel 2007) is was buried in Excel Options > Add-Ins --> Manage Disabled Items then Select the disabled personal.xlsb and then Enable
