I am moving an excel spreadsheet over from Excel 2000 to Excel 2007 and I am having a problem with my Macro Buttons. In Excel 2000, I had multiple buttons on the button toolbar to help the users move from one tab to another (users are not very proficient with Excel and do not use the spreadsheet enough to keep reteaching them). These buttons had text on the button so that the user knew what tabs or spreadsheets they would goto by clicking on the button.
I have migrated the spreadsheet to Excel 2007, but I lost my macro buttons that are usually in the toolbar. After reading about the problem, I have a few questions regarding Excel 2007 Macro buttons and about my possible solution.
Questions:
1. Is there a way to add a button linked to a Macro (I can do this part), but have that button show text (i.e. Tab 1 Button) instead of a picture (selected from Excels Stock Icons)? The reason I need this is because my users will not understand the pictures/icons that I use for each button without text to explain them. Also, I realize that you can hover over the button to see what the text says, but that is too much work for these users.
2. I am thinking that I will not be able to add the buttons that I want (text buttons instead of icons) to the Excel Quick Access Bar. My new solution (which will take time) is to add buttons to each tab that will take the users to the other tabs. These buttons will have to be placed at the top of each worksheet and the top portion of the spreadsheet will have to be frozen to keep them available at all time. Is this my best solution within the Excel 2007 Macro/Ribbon/Quick Access Bar World?
Thank you so much for your time and I appreciate any responses that are given.
