We have an Excel 2003 worksheet that someone outside of our company created. When I'm in some cells, a box appears next to the cell that states "Calculated Cell Do not enter data in this cell". I cannot for the life of me determine how this "help box" (as I like to call it) was created or how to edit it or delete it from being associated with these cells. It doesn't appear to be a comment, as I can't delete it. I have right clicked both the cell and the box it to try to edit, delete or change, but I don't get anywhere. Does anyone have any idea on how this was created? We've tried to contact the created of this document but haven't had any response to that either.

It probably is a comment placed by the creator to give tips.

You should be able to right click on the cell and choose delete comment.

However, they are there for a reason.

It isn't a comment. I tried right clicking it and deleting comment but that does nothing. All comments that I've seen in Excel worksheets have a little red triangle in the cell--this on doesn't.

Reason I want to delete or edit this box is because it no longer applies--it's no longer calculated field.

Go to Data > Validation. Erase or change whatever is currently typed in the Input Message tab.

Awesome. I've used Validation numerous times before but never noticed this item.

I'll definitely be using this in some of my future spreadsheets.

Thank you so much.

Glad to help!
